In the remote Tanzanian village of Magugu, there is a school that is raising generations of children who are able to fulfil their God-given potential because of the generosity of City Impact Church. Our Village Impact Sponsorship program provides the opportunity for over 300 children to go to school.
Attending school in Tanzania is not a given for all children. In Tanzania, if a child cannot provide their own stationery and uniform, it is illegal to go to school. They simply cannot enrol in school until they have the stationary required and must continue to provide it, or they will have to stop attending.
And without a Primary School education, it is nearly impossible to go on to further education or have a career, so it is very common for this poverty cycle to continue throughout multiple generations in Tanzania. Children who, without our help, would not be able to attend school are being provided with the stationery and uniform so they can!
Through the sponsorship money from Village Impact, the children at the Joshua School in Magugu are provided with brand new uniforms and stationary (and each day at school, a nutritious meal is provided). The teachers are also supported both financially and with the curriculum to provide quality Christian education to the students, which benefits the entire community, providing secure jobs and regular income to teachers in the Magugu community.
Starting at just 4 years old, these kids are taught about Jesus by teachers who care about and value them as individuals and encourage them to grow into all the God has created them to be. We are enabling the fulfilment of Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it,” and the evidence of this is that past students are now qualified and teaching the next generation at the school. How amazing is that?!
