Pastors Joe + Racquel Manase
Ps Joe and Racquel Manase have been part of City Impact Church for 25 years and now serve as the Lead Pastors. Together, they have four children and a deep passion for families, the local church, and seeing people experience the reality of Jesus and find a church to truly call home.
Passionate about the Word of God, their heart is to build a church where His Word is preached with power, His Presence is experienced, and every person finds a place to belong, grow and mature in their walk with God.
Ps Joe and Racquel carry a bold vision to see New Zealand saved and transformed as people across our nation discover the hope, goodness and reality of Jesus Christ.
We exist to be faith-filled Christians who co-labour together with and for Jesus and the Holy Spirit in order to build and establish a large, strong and healthy church, which glorifies God.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God to all people. It is inspired by God, inerrant, infallible, relevant for today, and the supreme authority for the life and faith of every believer.
We believe that the Bible shapes and directs our lives as we read it, hear it preached, and put its teaching into practice.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 20-21; John 17:17; James 1:22-25.
We believe in one true God, the Creator, who has existed eternally. He exists as one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each Person of the Trinity is fully God, equal in nature, power, and authority, while carrying out distinct roles and functions.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 40:28; 1Chronicles 29:11; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 1:1-3; Hebrews 9:14.
God the Father set the plan of redemption in motion, Jesus the Son carried it out, and the Holy Spirit brings it to life in us. God the Father is unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. He is perfectly holy, righteous, loving, and faithful, and is completely worthy of our trust and worship. In Him we live and breathe and have our being.
Scripture: 1 Peter 1:2; Ephesians 1:3-4; Ephesians 1:13-14; Malachi 3:6; Revelation 19:6; Psalms 147:5; Psalms 139:7-10; Leviticus 11:44; Psalms 11:7; 1 John 4:8; Deuteronomy 7:9; Proverbs 3:5-6; Acts 17:28.
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He is the Son of God and the Son of Man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now reigns. We believe that He will return to judge the living and the dead.
Scripture: John 1:1; John 1:14; Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:6-7; Matthew 1:18; 2 Corinthains 5:2; 1 Corinthians 15:3; John 3:16; Luke 24:6; Luke 24: 51; Revelation 19:16; John 5:22-27.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Godhead. He dwells within believers, reveals the Father and the Son to us, guides us into all truth, convicts people of sin, and brings people to faith in Christ.
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available and active in the Church today (including divine healing) to bless and strengthen believers. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers, with speaking in tongues as a biblical evidence of this experience.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Corinthians 6:19; John 14:26; John 16;13-14; John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Acts 8:15-17.
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and that humanity was created in the image of God. Every human being is uniquely created by God and is therefore worthy of dignity, respect, and Christian love.
We believe that God created humanity as male and female, corresponding to their biological sex at birth. Humanity was created to live in relationship with God, but through disobedience and sin became separated from Him. As a result, no person can attain a right relationship with God through human effort or personal righteousness.
Scripture: Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:26–28; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 2:18–22; Psalm 139:13–14; Genesis 3:1–6; Romans 3:10–12; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:6; Romans 7:14–25.
We believe that every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard. The consequence of sin is death and eternal separation from God.
Yet, because of His great love for us, God gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to bear the penalty for our sin through His death on the cross. Jesus was sinless, and therefore death could not ultimately hold Him. Through His resurrection, He defeated death and made the way for us to receive eternal life.
We believe Jesus Christ is the only sufficient sacrifice for the sins of humanity and the only way we can be reconciled to God. To receive salvation, a person must repent of their sin, place their faith in Jesus Christ, and receive God’s forgiveness. Scripture describes this new life as being “born again.”
Salvation is a gift of God, received by grace through faith, and cannot be earned through our own works or efforts.
Scripture: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; John 3:16–18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 2:14; 1 Corinthians 15:54–56; Isaiah 53:5–6; 2 Corinthians 5:17–18; 1 Peter 1:18–19; Isaiah 55:7; John 1:12; John 5:24; Acts 2:21; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:30–31; Revelation 3:20; John 3:3; Isaiah 1:18; Romans 5:8–10; Ephesians 2:8–10.
We believe that the human spirit is created to exist forever. Jesus Christ will return again, and those who have placed their faith in Him will receive eternal life and dwell with God forever.
We believe that hell is a place of eternal separation from God and was prepared for Satan and his fallen angels. Those who reject God’s offer of salvation, remain in their sin, and do not repent will experience eternal separation from God.
Scripture: John 3:16; John 11:25; John 14:1–3; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11–13; Revelation 20:11–15, Ecclesiastes 12:7, Matthew 25:41.
We believe that the Church is made up of all born-again believers and is expressed through local churches under the leadership of Pastors, Prophets, Apostles, Teachers, Evangelists and Elders.
Jesus established His Church to continue the work He began on earth. Scripture describes the Church as the Body of Christ, with Christ Himself as its Head.
We embrace a contemporary expression of worship and ministry while maintaining a conservative theological position. We believe in water baptism by full immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for all believers. We believe in regularly participating in Communion together as the Body of Christ.
We believe all that the Bible teaches and seek to live faithful, fruitful, and fervent Christian lives. Our Vision is to see people saved, to help people grow in unity, maturity, and wholeness, and to worship and glorify God in all that we do.
Scripture: Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 4:11–13; Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:19; Matthew 26:26–28; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26.
We believe that marriage is a lifelong covenant relationship instituted by God between one man and one woman.
Marriage is God’s design for procreation, companionship, faithfulness, intimacy, and unity, and reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church. Marriage is to be honoured, protected, and lived out in purity, faithfulness, and lifelong commitment.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:18, Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:31–32; Hebrews 13:4.
We believe that every Christian is on a lifelong journey of becoming more like Christ, and that spiritual disciplines are an important part of this process of spiritual growth and maturity.
We encourage believers to cultivate a life that includes:
Scripture: 2 Peter 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Matthew 6:6; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24-25; Galatians 5:13; Matthew 5:16; James 1:22; John 4:23-24; Hebrews 11:6; Galatians 5:16; John 15:4-5.
In 1982, Pastors Peter and Bev Mortlock pioneered City Impact Church with their family and a handful of people, carrying a vision to reach a nation for Christ. For 40 years they faithfully served as Senior Pastors, building strong churches, helping people encounter Jesus and sparking passion for His Church across nations and generations.
