Diamonds in the Rough

Growing up an orphan inevitably conjures feelings of rejection, low self-esteem and a general sense of worthlessness. So, what is a life worth?

There are 25 million orphans in India. The Indian government support these kids in state funded orphanages. There’s a budget of 15 billion to clothe, feed, house and educate them. That works out to $600 a child a year, $50 a month, or $1.60 a day. Then we get to the caste system, where some children are more ‘worthless’ than others. The untouchables, the children in such abject poverty, the children that no-one wants. And that’s where Pastor Frank and Gladys join the story.

The heart of these two amazing people has seen children, that were once deemed worthless by society raised up to be amazing young Christian leaders. In business, medicine, education, politics and some even following in the footsteps of Ps Frank and Gladys to become pastors. Ps Gladys knows that for an orphan to feel like they are worth more than the bare minimum, she needs to give them the best. And that is what she does.  Meals are lovingly prepared with spices, sauces, fresh vegetables and meat – a meal to impart dignity. Each child receives new garments, nothing is second hand, they will not be made to wear the clothes that others didn’t want, because they are not going to live a life feeling like they are the children that others didn’t want.

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Through our donations, heroes of Christianity, Pastors Frank and Gladys are raising up a generation of kids that are shaking off the old label of worthless, and taking up the new title of chosen child of God.
