A Journey of Faith: Celebrating Judah’s 13th Birthday in the Philippines
“When Judah approached us and said, “I’m keen to do the Philippines missions trip,” We had to do a double take. Was he really sure about this? When he confirmed, Kelly and I were over the moon. This wasn’t just any trip, this was how he wanted to celebrate turning 13. A 13th birthday is significant—it’s a transition into young manhood. The fact that he chose to mark this milestone with a mission’s trip made it even more meaningful.
Seeing Judah’s desire to serve others in a different country at such a young age filled us with pride and excitement. This trip was not just about seeing a new place; it was about growing, maturing, and stepping into a new phase of life.
Watching him immerse himself in the work, engage with the people, and build relationships has been nothing short of impressive. The kids in the area haven’t seen too many young guys from New Zealand, and Judah’s presence has been impactful.
For me, the power of the seed is something I hold dear. I know the difference it’s made in my life, thanks to those who have sown into me. Now, seeing the seeds that have already been planted by the church in the hearts and lives of the people here—especially the kids and the youth—is truly inspiring. It’s a testament to the lasting impact of faith and love.
Our hope and prayer for Judah is that the seeds we’ve sown into him will take root and bear fruit in his life. We believe this experience will shape him, guiding him and impacting him for years to come. This trip isn’t just a momentary experience; it’s a steppingstone in his journey of faith, growth, and becoming the young man he’s meant to be.
