A Message from Ps Kim Burger

Hearts Full in India: A Message from Ps Kim Burger

Recently, Graham and I, along with our granddaughter Abigail, had the incredible privilege of spending six days in Kolar Gold Fields, India, with the wonderful Ps Frank and Gladys. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms and it wasn’t long before we felt like part of their family.

Ps Gladys’ delicious cooking and their next-level hospitality made us feel completely at home. But even more impactful was the time we spent with the beautiful children in their care. Ps Frank and his amazing team run several children’s homes in some of the poorest areas of India. Despite the hardship surrounding them, these children radiate joy. They love to dance and sing and they carry a deep deposit of God’s Word in their hearts, many of them can recite Scripture from memory in English, even at a young age.

Abigail and I also had the opportunity to be involved in their holiday outreach programme for the local community, an incredible initiative that saw between 400 to 500 children (many from non-Christian backgrounds) gather each day for food, fun, learning and the Word of God. Volunteer teachers, many of whom took time off work to be there, ministered to these children through songs, memory verses, games and outings.

The week concluded with a joyful Saturday night showcase, where the children performed what they had learned in front of their families. Every child left that evening with a gift and a slice of well-deserved cake! We fell in love with these precious kids and we’re still in touch with some of them today.

Another highlight of our trip was visiting a training centre run by one of Ps Frank’s campus pastors. This centre is equipped with around 30 sewing machines and offers a life-changing opportunity to unemployed women of all faiths. We were humbled to be part of their graduation celebration, where each woman received a sewing machine to take home, empowering them to earn an income and support their families. The emotion and gratitude in that room was unforgettable.

Through all of this, we witnessed firsthand the extraordinary impact that your generosity is having in India. Ps Frank, Gladys and their faithful team are not only stewarding every resource with excellence, but they are also multiplying what we place in their hands, resulting in lives transformed and God glorified.

We returned home with hearts overflowing, deeply moved and forever changed.

You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous, and this generosity, administered through us, is producing thanksgiving to God from those who benefit.”
