Meet the City Impact Church North Shore Location Pastors

Meet Ps Greg & Krista Crawford

Ps Greg and Krista lead our North Shore Location with heart, humour and a deep love for people. Their journeys to faith and ministry are filled with real moments, unexpected turns and a whole lot of God’s grace. From childhood dreams and career paths to favourite scriptures and travel wish lists, here’s a little glimpse into their lives beyond Sundays.

Ps Greg’s Story: From Telecom to the Pulpit

Ps Greg’s journey to Jesus started in 1993 at a Power Team event (think musclemen breaking bricks and preaching the Gospel). But it wasn’t a straight line getting there. Back in 1991, he was invited to Church but never made it past the carpark. Fear stopped him in his tracks. Fast forward two years, God was doing some serious behind-the-scenes work on Greg’s heart and he finally walked through those Church doors, but only on the condition that his brother didn’t leave his side.

Before ministry life, Greg gave the culinary world a go. (Apparently, he talked too much to make it as a chef!) He worked at Telecom for 7 years as an Account Manager and dabbled in a couple of business start-ups. But it’s his passion for people and God’s Word that has grounded him as a Location Pastor. His favourite Bible verse? Jeremiah 17:7–8

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7–8

And while Greg loves the Word, don’t be fooled. He’s also got a soft spot for Char Kway Teow (from Penang, no less), dreams of southern Italy and raising five incredible kids with Krista. Fireman might’ve been his childhood dream — but we reckon Location Pastor suits him even better.

Ps Krista’s Story: From Napier to North Shore with Heart & Humour

Ps Krista’s always known Jesus. So, what brought her to our church? Teenage boys at her high school said their parents’ church was “cool”… so naturally, she checked it out. We’re so glad she did.

Before pastoring, Krista wore many hats: nanny, violin teacher and ECE manager. She’s a trained teacher by trade and it shows in her wisdom, warmth and straight-up practicality. If you ever need a book recommendation, she’ll point you to Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It’s been a game-changer in how she views eternity. Her go-to scriptures? Proverbs 3:27 and Romans 11:36. Both anchoring her generous, God-centered life.

Fun facts? She dreamed of being an archaeologist in Egypt and was born in sunny Napier. These days, she’s a full-blown extrovert who thrives in a noisy house of kids but secretly dreams of hammock time and a good book. We get that.

Together, Ps Greg and Krista have five kids, a daughter-in-law and a whole lot of heart for the local Church. Their home is often full, not just with their own children, but also with others they’ve welcomed in through fostering. It’s a meaningful part of their lives that reflects their love for people beyond the four walls of church. Their advice? From Greg: “Winners never quit… and quitters never win.” From Krista: “Things always seem better in the morning.”

So next time you see them on a Sunday, say hi. They’re just as real as they seem. As Greg says: “What you see is what you get.” And honestly, we wouldn’t want it any other way.
