Ps Tim – Real, relatable and a big fan of rhubarb and custard
Ps Tim’s journey with Jesus started when he was just a little kid. He remembers lying in bed one night, looking out into the dark, and thinking, “I don’t want to go to hell.” The next day, his mum took him to see their pastor – also called Tim – and that’s when he asked Jesus into his heart.
Fast forward a few years, and Tim was living in England when God spoke to him very clearly: it was time to move back to New Zealand, start tithing, and find a Pentecostal church. He did all of that (in that order), but the church part took a bit of time – until a friend of his mum’s recommended Bays Christian Fellowship (now City Impact Church). He showed up that Sunday and never looked back.
Tim’s got a Bachelor of Agriculture, a love for food (especially rhubarb and custard, chicken livers, lamb shanks, and anything Thai or Middle Eastern), and once dreamed of becoming a helicopter pilot. These days, he’s a dad to three kids – Hunter, Toby, and Billie – and loves leading alongside Ps Janine. His top travel destination? Japan.
What’s he excited about when it comes to the new Great South Road campus? Seeing God move in a fresh way and being part of building something new and meaningful.
Ps Janine – Creative, coffee-loving, and full of faith
Ps Janine’s journey with Jesus started early. Growing up in a Christian home and attending a Baptist church, she made her first decision for Christ at age 12 and was baptised soon after. But it wasn’t until she was 18, alone in her bedroom, that she had a radical encounter with God that changed everything. “I realised I needed Jesus,” she shares. That night marked the real beginning of her walk with Him.
With a Diploma in Primary Teaching, Janine’s heart for people and gift for communication is clear. She loves expressing herself creatively (she once dreamed of becoming an artist), and her passion for different cultures is matched only by her love of food. Almond croissants, crème brûlée, and cinnamon buns are her top sweet picks – but when it comes to cuisine, Italian and Asian fusion steal the show.
Ps Janine was born on Auckland’s North Shore and now has three beautiful children – Hunter, Toby, and Billie – with Ps Tim.
