The Return is a song based on the story of the Prodigal Son. In this story (found in Luke chapter 15), a man has two sons. One of the sons asks his father if he could receive his inheritance. When his father agrees, the son deserts his family and spends his livelihood on prodigal living. Once blowing all his money and coming to his senses, the son decides to return home in the hopes of working for his father. The son was ashamed, and he never expected in his wildest dreams for his father to forgive him and treat him with the same love as he treated him before. When the son returned home, His father fulfilled exactly what the son didn’t expected. In fact, the Bible says that when the father spotted his son in the distance, he ran to him, fell on his neck and kissed him. Amazing!
The thing is, that is how God feels about us. No matter what mistakes we make in our lives, God is more than willing to forgive us when we have a repentant heart. He loves us infinitely more than we can imagine and is proud to call us His children.
