The Perfect Gift Ideas

Christmas is indeed in the air – the lights are coming up, trees are being decorated, and Bublé’s silky carol renditions are making their way into the supermarket playlists. Before you know it you’ll be heading along to your end-of-year Christmas party or participating in a Secret Santa gift exchange game with a price quota attached to it.

Stuck for ideas? Well we’ve got you covered! Check out our ideas for gifts for $10 to $50 that will keep a smile on your co-workers dial this Christmas.

K-MART
The place you walk in to buy one thing, and walk out with 10 trolleys overflowing with affordable things. Endless goodies from a new dining place set to an ironing board, fancy stationary, or even stocking fillers … this is the place for it!

FRAMED PHOTOS
Ahhh the lost art of printing photos of you and your mates and placing it in a frame – whether it goes up in their room or at work, framed photos are the bee’s knees! Find a snap you like, head to Warehouse Stationary or Noel Leeming, and look for a printing kiosk. You’ll have them printed in under 30 minutes, and can grab a nice frame from The Warehouse to put the pic in.

TIP – Don’t forget to use bubble wrap when you gift wrap the frame! Apparently nobody likes broken shards when they open their gift…

GIFT CARDS
An easy option when matched with a box of chocolates or maybe a bunch of flowers from the supermarket and a well-written card and you’ll win the hearts of many. Pop into your local supermarket, online store, or the Info Desk at the closest Westfield Mall – there you’ll find display stands showing a variety of gift cards for a number of stores. Here’s a few examples:

  • Prezzy Cards – you can pretty much use these anywhere!
  • Shopping or Petrol Cards – look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities!
  • Movie Vouchers – amazing, because they can be re-gifted too before the closing date (haha).
  • Find one of your gift recipient’s favourite stores or brands they like and see if you can buy a voucher for it in-store or online.

HAMPERS / GIFT BAG
Looking for something personal? Find out what kind of snacks and drinks your gift recipient loves to indulge in. Take that list and head to your local Pak’n Save, New World or Countdown and grab these items. Purchase a cute gift box from the nearest $2 store and pile in the snacks and drinks! Make it a bit fancy by wrapping them up with some cheeky cellophane – cheap as chips from the $2 store.

Tip – this idea is great for any budget – go for the fancy items in a box or just a few in a gift bag with a ‘Merry Christmas’ tag!

PHONE CHARGER
Look we all laugh, but surely you can’t go wrong buying someone a charger? Admittedly we’ve all “borrowed” someone else’s charger in the house or office. Maybe you’ve even forgotten to put it back or returned it a tad faulty. Time to bring the Christmas cheer and finish the year strong – head to your local Apple Store or JB Hi-Fi and grab this life-changing gift.

HOME BAKING
This is a winner – hands down! Not only does it fill the tummy, it’s personal, thoughtful and a labour of love. Find a quick ‘n easy recipe (or baking-in-a-box mix) for cookies, perhaps a slice, or maybe even a cake? Set aside some hours and get baking, have a podcast playing in the background, and rally some of your family or friends together to bless someone this season!

Once the baking has cooled down – grab some rolls of cellophane or brown paper, some twine string or thin ribbon, and some gift tags from the mall. Wrap up the baking with the cellophane, tie it with string/ribbon, and attach a nice handwritten note.

TIP – You could also buy a $5 mug from K-Mart, some hot-chocolate sachets, and wrap them up in cellophane to go along with the baking!

All the best as you begin your Christmas shopping! Remember, you don’t need to spend a billion dollars to make someone’s Christmas – #sticktobudget. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Have fun bringing Christmas cheer!
