SCRIPTURE

And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

DEVOTIONAL - Nothing Is Impossible with God

When we read the Gospels, we encounter incredible stories that stretch the bounds of belief. Can God really open the womb, impregnate a virgin, heal the sick, raise the dead? The resounding answer is yes! While we did not see these events firsthand, we believe them by faith.

Consider the accounts of Zacharias and Mary. They both faced extraordinary situations, and while their responses may sound similar, Zacharias responds with skepticism, and Mary responds with overwhelming faith.

Hebrews reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Yet many Christians live their lives in the realm of the possible. They seldom take steps of faith that require the God of the impossible. When we are presented with situations that require faith, do we doubt God like Zacharias, or do we respond with overwhelming faith, believing that nothing is impossible for God?

RESPONSE

The next time you are presented with a situation that seems impossible, what will your response be? Will you doubt, shrink back in fear, or will you stand in faith? If it is impossible to please God without faith, what are you believing for right now that requires faith?

PRAYER

Lord, I thank You that there are no limits to Your power. Forgive any doubts within me. Today, I choose to live a life of faith, believing You can do the impossible.
