Deuteronomy 8:17-19 ESV
17 Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ 18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.19 And if you forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish.
Welcome to “Strengthen Your Core,” part 1 of “WORK IT OUT” a 3-part sermon series on Finances. In this sermon Ps Joe outlined 7 Biblical Principles for building financial strength. Here they are with some quick bullet points from each point;
7 Biblical Principles for Financial Strength
1. Work Hard
Hard work and diligence are keys to creating wealth.
A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame. Proverbs 10:4-5 ESV
2. Steward Wisely
By managing your resources well you’ll prepare yourself to receive greater blessings.
And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Matt 25:20-21 ESV
3. Have a Vision
Set clear financial goals and pursue them with purpose.
Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law. Prov 29:18 ESV
4. Prioritise The Kingdom
Align your finances with Gods will by sowing into what’s important to Him, this will allow you to reap the financial blessings He promises in His Word.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Cor 9:8 ESV
5. Be Aware of the Source
Acknowledge that your ability to create wealth comes from God.
6. Prepare for Generations
Build wealth that benefits future generations.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous. Prov 13:22
7. Live Generously
Embrace a lifestyle of giving, reflecting God’s generosity.
The Path to Financial Fitness
