Who enjoyed Ps Samuel’s illustrated sermon on being filled with Living Water?
Or ‘Agua Viva’ as he called it! Here are some thoughts from that message for you to take away.
Our life is like a jug of water that gets dirty and muddied by sin and circumstances, both self-inflicted and through no fault of our own.
The Holy Spirit is like water that pours into that jug, forcing out the dirty water.
Still water forces the dirty water out in a regulated manner. Living (carbonated) water forces the dirty water out in an accelerated manner.
The Bible says rivers of living water will flow out of us (John 7:38).
Old-school thinking says:
“In order to be filled with the Spirit you have to get rid of the darkness in your life. If you don’t get rid of the sin, God can’t fill you.”
You might be thinking, “God doesn’t want to fill me. There is dark stuff inside of me.” You might be trying to get rid of the junk with your own strength. There is a better remedy.
The truth is:
Jesus paid the price for your sin. You cannot embrace what God has for you until you first embrace what God did for you. The best way to get rid of the sin, darkness, hell, unbelief, doubt, scepticism, fear and confusion, is to be filled with the Spirit.
Wow, and if that isn’t enough to inspire you – here’s some more from the same sermon. Why not try out the Personal Statements below and start believing them for your own life?
- The Bible tells us to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
We are the temple of the Holy Spirit! (1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19.)
Personal Statement One:
“I am not a temple of pain, failure, defeat, darkness or sin. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I am not just occupying space and time. I am not a failure. I am not just a survivor. I am the house of the Spirit of the living God.”
- The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us (Romans 8:11).
Personal Statement Two:
“I am a temple. Therefore there is awesomeness inside of me. I house the holy one. I house victory, love, joy, peace, patience, meekness, goodness, gentleness, temperance, mercy, faith. I house the Spirit of the living God.”
- We are filled with the one who limits access (2 Chronicles 5:14)
When God fills us, hell cannot touch us!
Personal Statement Three:
“Hell will never have access to my destiny, to my dream, to my family, to my joy, to my peace, to my children or children’s children ever again.”
- From Overwhelmed to Overflow
When we are filled with God’s Spirit, we go from ‘overwhelmed’ to ‘overflow’.
